According to Roman myth, before the dawn of the Roman Empire, there was a kingdom called Alba Longa whose royal line had Aeneas for its forebear. In the board game, each player takes up the role of one of five city-states, including Alba Longa, fight for regional dominance in 600 BCE. While according to the historical record Rome conquered Alba Longa, anyone might triumph.
